Dan Meyer

Supplier Account Executive

Hometown: Round Rock, TX

What led you to a career in construction finance?

The opportunity to help solve real-world cash flow problems for contractors & suppliers. The chance to work at a well-funded, fast-paced startup with an elite team didn’t hurt, either!

What is your favorite part of your current role?

Learning first-hand about suppliers & commercial contractors’ business challenges. I get energy from talking out their challenges with them, then collaborating on how controlling their cash flow could solve some of those problems.

What do you do at Billd?

I help suppliers get paid up-front on Day 0. I also help scale Billd’s supplier sales channel by developing our Partner Supplier Program.

What does your typical day look like?

You can find me on the phone with suppliers gathering product feedback, moving material purchases along the sales cycle & defining upcoming project roadmaps with them. If I’m not doing that, you’ll likely find me in a conference room with Manny & Natasha, polishing up our go-to-market strategy.

What’s something new that you’ve learned since being at Billd?

Jira coffee machines are the real deal. Shout out to Chris Doyle for casually dropping one in the office!

What’s your favorite part about working at Billd?

The Jira coffee machine. Just kidding. Kind of. I would say the autonomy to try new ideas out is a major factor why we’re growing at such a fast clip. We celebrate the successes & grow from the failures.

Give us your 30 second Billd elevator pitch.

We solve the cash flow problem for suppliers & contractors in commercial construction. 120-Day Terms for Contractors. Up-front funding, no recourse for suppliers.

What’s one accomplishment you’re proud of since being at Billd?

Closing a material purchase right before the deadline. This particular one was important to me because it helped a supplier fund payroll for his staff right before a holiday.

What do you think makes Billd special?

Culture. Everyone here cares about moving the ball forward. Not particularly for Billd’s benefit (although that is a great byproduct), we do it for our customers. There isn’t a feeling that you need to work late but rather, you want to because you understand it’s going to benefit your customers & their teams.

What’s one goal you hope to accomplish with Billd in the future?

Billd is on every single construction project.

What peaked your interest with Billd before being hired?

Within the first few conversations, I became enamored with the product & the problem that we are solving in the construction industry.

What’s your favorite Billd memory?

So far, the $50M celebration with the entire team was a blast.

What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute to your success and why?

Work ethic & a positive mentality. The mind is the most powerful tool in the world. Success follows a positive mindset & the work ethic to execute.

What are 3 words you’d use to describe yourself?

Positive, focused, competitive

Give us 3 fun facts about yourself that your coworkers may not know about you.

I can complete a Rubik’s cube, I’ve flown on a private jet to coach a little league game, and I hate mushrooms.

Describe each of your co-workers in one word.

Yeesh, that’s a lot. How about the company in one word: Selfless.

What would you do with a million dollars?

Pay off the house, set some aside for my daughter’s college fund & invest the rest in properties.

If you could have dinner with anyone (dead or alive) who would it be?

I would have dinner with my Grandma Lou who passed away 7 years ago. I’d ask her to cook her famous Filipino lumpia and we’d have a blast.

Who’s your inspiration?

My dad was my best man in my wedding & I’ve always looked up to him.

What’s your all-time favorite memory?

The day we took my daughter, Amelia, home from the hospital.

Dog person or cat person? Why?

Dog, all the way. They’re just good friends.

My wife & daughter. Also bacon.
