A reinforcing joint in masonry where a collar is added for extra stability and load distribution.
A Collar Joint is a type of joint used in masonry or brickwork where a collar, or a reinforcing element, is placed around a vertical or horizontal joint to provide additional stability and strength. It is often used to connect masonry walls or reinforce structural elements, improving the overall load distribution and reducing the risk of cracking or structural failure.
Composite columns could be cast-in-place on a high-rise building and used as load-bearing supports for each floor. If a composite column is cast in place the forms will be set, and then reinforcing steel will be added. Once the formwork and reinforcing steel are in place then the concrete will be poured into the form.
