Meet Ben Fischbein, Billd’s Driven Marketing Specialist

What led you to a career in marketing?

I’ve always enjoyed understanding what makes people “tick” – why they feel they way they feel, why they make certain decisions, and the journeys that led them there. Marketing is a natural extension of this for me. I’m able to help Billd understand our customers in order to help grow our (and, by extension, our customers’) business.

What is your favorite part of your current role?

Being part of a growing team inside of Billd. I’m marketing employee #2, so I have a front row seat to contribute to the evolution of marketing here.

What do you do at Billd?

I’m taking on a few different marketing responsibilities: testing and honing our online ads; maintaining and growing our social media presence; sending out goodie boxes to our partners and customers. These are just a few of the things I do – a list I’m sure will grow over time!

What does your typical day look like?

Analyzing our online ads, responding to questions on our social media channels, setting up tests for new ads, and more. No two days are ever exactly the same.

What’s something new that you’ve learned since being at Billd?

Just about everything I now know about the construction industry.

What’s your favorite part about working at Billd?

Being part of such a fast growing company and team – there’s something truly exciting about helping to grow something from an early stage.

Give us your 30 second Billd elevator pitch.

Billd makes it easier for commercial contractors to grow their business. We pay material suppliers upfront and offer 120-day terms to our partners so that they can do their best work without having to worry about cash flow at the same time.

What’s one accomplishment you’re proud of since being at Billd?

Remembering most of the names in the office!

What do you think makes Billd special?

The team, 100%.

What’s one goal you hope to accomplish with Billd in the future?

I’d like to lead my own team at Billd at some point down the road, once we’ve grown our headcount a bit more.

What peaked your interest with Billd before being hired?

The stage of the company; really that Billd seemed to be (and is) entering an exciting period of growth.

What’s your favorite Billd memory?

Definitely the last time we had a few dogs in the office.

What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute to your success and why?

My drive. Once I commit to a goal, I don’t stop working and pushing until I’ve accomplished it.

What are 3 words you’d use to describe yourself?

Driven, empathetic, and goofy

Give us 3 fun facts about yourself that your coworkers may not know about you.

  • I played one year of college football – my senior year.
  • I worked as a “custodial engineer” during my high school summers (AKA the janitorial squad)
  • I once had hair down to my shoulders

What would you do with a million dollars?

First, I’d travel the world (seeing the Northern Lights from Iceland is #1 on my bucket list right now). Then I would set up a strong retirement account and finally buy my mom her house on the beach.

If you could have dinner with anyone (dead or alive) who would it be?

My high school band director. He passed a few years ago, and I’ve only since realized how amazing a human being he was.

What are you binge-watching right now?

Schitt’s Creek. The humor might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I crack up every episode.

Dog person or cat person? Why?

Cat person (don’t tell my pup at home). There’s just something special about earning a cat’s love, and I really love how independent they can be.

What’s #1 on your bucket list?

See the Northern Lights from Iceland

What makes you happy?

Being able to laugh at the little things.
