What Is Design-Bid-Build?
Design-Bid-Build (DBB) is a traditional project delivery method where the design and construction phases are separate and sequential. In DBB, the project owner first contracts with a designer to develop detailed plans and specifications. Once the design is complete, the project is put out to bid, and a contractor is selected to execute the construction based on the provided design documents. This method allows for clear delineation of responsibilities but can lead to potential delays and disputes between design and construction phases.
